VectorFast Render · Comparison

VectorFast Render vs Vercel OG

@vercel/og is a free, open-source library that renders OG images inside your own functions. VectorFast Render is a hosted API: templates, a shared brand kit, cached signed URLs, and an MCP server for agents. If one Next.js app needs OG images, @vercel/og is often enough.

VectorFast Render is in early access. Billing is not connected yet, and API keys are issued to waitlist members as access opens. Join the waitlist

What Vercel OG (@vercel/og) is

@vercel/og is Vercel's open-source library (MPL-2.0) for generating Open Graph images from JSX in your own functions. Next.js App Router ships it as ImageResponse from next/og. It converts HTML and CSS to PNG with Satori and Resvg.

Which one fits

Choose Vercel OG (@vercel/og) when

  • You deploy a Next.js app on Vercel and only need OG images for your own pages.
  • You want full control of the layout in your own code and no third-party service in the request path.
  • Your traffic fits comfortably in your existing hosting plan, so there is no extra bill.
  • You do not need images outside the web app, such as in an AI agent or a CI job.

Choose VectorFast Render when

  • Several apps, scripts and agents need the same on-brand images without each one bundling fonts and layout code.
  • You want an AI agent such as Claude or Cursor to make the images, not only your web server.
  • You want one brand kit, including a logo traced from PNG to SVG, applied everywhere.
  • You render share cards and launch images beyond OG tags, at sizes like 1080×1080.

Vercel OG (@vercel/og) vs VectorFast Render FAQ

Is @vercel/og free?
The library is open source under MPL-2.0. Rendering runs in your own functions, so cost follows your hosting plan's function usage.
Can I use VectorFast Render with Next.js?
Yes. Put a signed image URL in generateMetadata, or call POST /v1/renders from a server component; see the Next.js OG image guide.
Does VectorFast Render support CSS grid?
You do not write layout for the official templates; they are built with the Tailwind classes the Takumi engine supports. Custom templates are planned for a later release.
